  • Santa’s Sleigh Has A Lexus Badge This Year It’s the first Lexus to run on holiday spirit. In the days leading up to Christmas, automakers like to have fun by reimagining Santa’s sleigh as one of their vehicles. A few years ago, Dodge built a sleigh out of a Hellcat, and this year, a rendering artist turned the Ram TRX into the ultimate toy carrier. Bentley even had a bit of fun by creating a Christmas-themed Flying Spur with a reindeer hood ornament in place of the Flying B. Now Lexus has revealed its holiday-themed HX Sleigh Concept featuring all of the luxury amenities that Santa could ever need Highlights include a 25-inch touchscreen with built-in air traffic control, a climate concierge with neck warmers, and a Mark Levinson Surround so Santa can jam out to Christmas songs. Like the Lexus LC 500, the HX comes finished in four-coat Infrared paint over its aerodynamic body. "I’m a simple man, but the ol’ sleigh has been looking a bit less...
  • Bugatti La Voiture Noire Becomes The Ultimate Christmas Decoration Who needs a Christmas market when you have the world’s most expensive new car on display? The coronavirus pandemic has canceled Christmas markets in most parts of the world, and that includes Bugatti’s home turf in Molsheim. However, the people behind the W16 hypercar have thought of a neat way to inject some holiday cheer into the commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. How? By putting the La Voiture Noire in a glass container for everyone to admire. The world’s most expensive car will be up on display for an extended period of time as Bugatti plans to keep it there until the end of March. It’s worth pointing out we’re looking at the very same showcar originally introduced in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. In other words, this is technically an EV as it lacks the quad-turbo W16 8.0-liter engine, replaced by electric motors to allow Bugatti to (slowly) move it...
  • See the lavish trains British royals have used through the years They’re essentially palaces on wheels. The British family’s royal trains have gotten monarchs to the places they need to be in style through the years. On Sunday night, Prince William and his wife, the former Kate Middleton, departed on a three-day royal train tour of England, Scotland and Wales. The purpose is to celebrate communities across the U.K. that have persevered during the coronavirus pandemic. The Kensington Palace Twitter account shared a video of the exterior of the train as the duke and duchess boarded it on Sunday. In June of 2018, the former Meghan Markle enjoyed an overnight trip with Queen Elizabeth on the royal train, her first time on the iconic locomotive. The train includes a dining car that seats up to 12 people, a kitchen and sleeping accommodations. There’s even a working office for the queen to get things done while she’s traveling. According to Anthony Coulls, senior curator...
  • Amazon’s Zoox Unveils Autonomous Shuttle, Names No Release Date The self-driving vehicle known as a ’robotaxi,’ 40 inches shorter than a Toyota Corolla, is claimed to be able to run for sixteen continuous hours on a charge. The homogenization of autonomous shuttle design continued today, with Amazon-owned Zoox unveiling its vision of a robotaxi future. The name "Zoox" is also the vehicle’s name, which its maker says is "built for riders, not drivers." The fully electric autonomous vehicle seats four passengers and has zero controls for a driver. Its design is similar to what we’ve seen from Cruise, Toyota, and other companies working on self-driving shuttles. What sets the vehicle apart from those offerings is that Zoox says it has a top speed of 75 mph, giving it the option of escaping from surface streets and hitting the freeway while in service. Cruise has yet to announce a top speed for its Origin, a similar autonomous shuttle...
  • Singapore Set to Have Flying Electric Taxi Service by 2023 Singapore is set to host the world’s first electric-powered air taxi service by the end of 2023, according to Volocopter GmbH, which is developing the vertical-takeoff craft.   The German manufacturer is committed to starting operations within three years once it completes flight trials, evaluation and certification in collaboration with the city-state, it said in a statement Wednesday. Tickets for a 15-minute trip costing 300 euros ($364) are already on sale. Volocopter completed a demonstration flight over Singapore’s Marina Bay area in October last year, and the first commercial route is likely to fly tourists over the same district, offering spectacular views of the skyline, the company said. Later services could including cross-border journeys. Singapore is at the forefront of plans to introduce flying taxis thanks to a more welcoming regulatory regime than in some other countries. While the craft could replace...

"I would like to thank Haas F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari and the Ferrari Driver Academy for placing their trust in me. • There will be a remote-control car race on the Moon in 2021. Seriously. An extremely odd project is planning to hold a remote-controlled car race next October ... On the surface of the Moon. What’s more, the two racecars will be partially designed by high school kids, and McLaren P1 designer Frank Stephenson is involved. Each car will weigh 2.5 kg (5.5 lb), and the "deployment mechanism" used to deposit them on the lunar surface will weigh a further 3 kg (6.6 lb.) This 8 kg (17.6 lb) combined weight is a big deal, because it’s going to the Moon. That’s somewhat of a special delivery, and not a cheap one. Lunar logistics company Astrobotic, for example, is currently quoting prices of US$1.2 million per kilogram (around US$544,000 per pound) to plonk things down in one of its Peregrine lander modules. These Moon Mark racecars, however, will not be traveling with Astrobotic. They’ll be traveling in a Nova-C lander made by Intuitive Machines, which will...
