RANGE ROVER 2020 Evoque Hybrid System

The 2020 Evoque goes on sale in the U.S. this spring.
The first-gen Evoque entered production in 2011, shrinking a luxury off-road experience to a pocket-size package. The sequel sticks to as much of the original formula as possible.

Under the hood of the 2020 model buyers will find 2.0-liter inline-fours in two different states of tune, with the milder versions serving up 246 hp, while higher up in the trim lineup these engines are paired with a mild-hybrid system good for 296 hp. The new Evoque was designed with a hybrid system in mind from the start, pairing the familiar Ingenium engines with a 48-volt mild-hybrid electric powertrain. Nine-speed ZF transmissions are on board in both versions of these powerplants, recalibrated for smoother shifts in a range of driving conditions.

An optional Adaptive Dynamics system pairs continuously variable suspension dampers and intelligent sensors to keep an eye on road conditions every 100 milliseconds, adjusting damper settings in accordance with the terrain.
Evoque features the Terrain Response 2 system as standard, offering driving modes that include sand, grass-gravel-snow, mud and ruts, general and eco. Yet another mode, simply named auto, lets the Evoque itself choose which one to use based on the terrain it detects. You’ll also be able to seethe terrain a lot better, thanks to the ClearSight Ground View system in the new Evoque, which projects a feed from the grille and the door mirrors on to the central touchscreen to show not only what is ahead of the vehicle, but also what is underneath, offering a 180-degree view. We have a feeling this will be just as useful in the city when pulling into parking spots with large concrete slabs, as out in the wilderness.
